About this role
You will take ownership of a portfolio of delinquent accounts and see each one through. That means contacting customers by telephone and email, and tracing those who cannot be reached. It means reviewing a customer's income and commitments with them, and setting out clearly what non-payment means for their credit record. You will then agree a repayment plan the customer is able to maintain, and follow it until payment is received. Every action must stand up to review afterwards, both to the client and against UAE Central Bank requirements.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of an assigned portfolio of overdue accounts, from first contact through to settlement
- Contact customers by telephone and email, and trace those who cannot be reached
- Explain clearly what non-payment means for a customer's credit record and future borrowing
- Assess what a customer is able to repay, based on income, commitments and existing debt
- Negotiate settlements, repayment plans and restructures that are realistic and sustainable
- Convert discussions into firm repayment commitments, and follow them through to completion
- Record every interaction in the CRM, including the commitment given and the outcome
- Work within UAE Central Bank requirements and the client's own policies on every contact
- Build a pipeline of future settlements rather than working only the current month's allocation
- Meet the monthly recovery and billing targets set for the portfolio
Requirements
- One to three years' experience in collections, credit or financial services
- A degree in finance, business or a related discipline
- Strong negotiation skills, and composure when a call becomes difficult
- The ability to interpret a customer's financial position and reach a sound conclusion
- CRM discipline, and sufficient reporting ability to maintain accurate figures
Nice to have
- Experience in the UAE market
- Experience tracing customers who cannot be reached
- A credit or collections certification
